Outdoor Adventure and Fitness

East Burke School's Outdoor Adventure and Fitness program is an innovative and effective approach to student health and fitness. It is designed to encourage the development of life-long physical fitness habits by engaging the students in non-competitive but challenging outdoor activities.

The program is given equal priority in the school's curriculum and ensures that each student actively exercises and learns new skills on a daily basis. EBS students are exposed to a wide range of adventure and fitness activities including ropes courses, rock climbing, canoeing, running, Nordic and alpine skiing and snow boarding, snow shoeing, mountain biking, hiking, and outdoor games such as ultimate Frisbee and soccer.

Occasional trips to IROC in Derby, the LSC gym, and Petra Cliffs in Burlington ensure additional variety. Progress in physical fitness and skill level is monitored through testing at the beginning and the end of the school year. The program is staffed by EBS teachers and award winning outdoor educator Jake Urban.
